I will not be climbing Everest Base Camp any time soon. My age is catching up with me. The bottom line is that both my feet and ankles are so swollen that it's almost impossible to find a pair of shoes that fit me (including all my old shoes except slippers). These shoes fit differently than the other three I tried. And with all the orthopedic shoes I've tried, including this pair, the stability of the shoe is sacrificed in favor of the space needed for swollen feet. The shoe is roomy enough that I could use two extra sleeves to provide extra cushioning under the upper and insole. The only thing I would change is that the velcro is on the left side (or inside) of the foot for easier access or attachment of the velcro. But I've never seen shoes constructed like that. The bottom line is these are great shoes; I am sure that I will wear them often.
