I'm approaching this by finding a cheaper color reference monitor for my home editing suite, powered by a 24fps Decklink card (rather than as a GUI monitor). Really impressive for the price. In some ways it's close to the Eizo CG279X, which I finally settled on after testing a few models (at less than half the price). Brightness is good, color reproduction was almost as good as I would expect from a non-broadcast monitor, build quality was excellent, creating a calibration LUT was fairly easy with the i1Display Pro, sharpness was excellent. I didn't test HDR because I would never use it as an HDR reference monitor, even at the less critical color reference I'm aiming for. After seeing the difficulties I have in setting up HDR references in my color sets with devices that are orders of magnitude more expensive, I'm just writing off HDR entirely for home grading. The biggest flaws that made me return it were the off-corner glow and IPS uniformity. It's really quite crumpled around the edges, and even if you deviate slightly from the corner you get increased levels and a big blue shift in black. Midtones and whites have taken on a purplish-pink hue. This may be fine if you're alone in the room, but if you're judging with a customer sitting even a few feet away, there's going to be arguments about what colors you're actually seeing.
