Review on ๐Ÿšฝ Toilet Hinge Replacement in White Plastic by Christopher Gonzalez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy installation, almost perfect fit.

Removing the old rusty hinges took longer than installing the new ones! A few comments on other reviews. One reviewer mentioned that the screws aren't stainless steel. Well the ones I received ARE stainless steel. No chance of rust or corrosion (which was an issue with the original hinges I received with the seat). Another reviewer mentioned that the hinges left the seat back (in the down position) over the toilet and was afraid of breaking the plastic hinges when seated. This looks like a problem with the seat, not the hinges. My seat has legs that hold it on the bowl and take ALL the weight off the hinges when it's down. In terms of installation, my old hinges had horizontal screw holes while the new ones had vertical ones. But that wasn't a problem as the seat had three holes (only two were used) for each hinge, and one of the three perfectly matched the rear holes in the new hinges. So I fitted the seat into the existing holes using only one screw per hinge and once fitted I was able to easily drill in the right places using the remaining holes in the hinges as a perfect guide. A small difference is that the new hinges are slightly longer than the old ones and the seat is now about 3/8 inch from its previous position. However, all seat legs sit securely on the shell. So no problem. (Only 7 screws are shown in the picture. There were 8 screws included.) All in all a very easy job and I think a few friends could use the new hinges too. And I will probably install them!

Pros
  • They are used to attach the toilet seat to the bowl. Provide an easy alternative to replacing the entire seat
Cons
