Review on πŸ” Dust with Precision: HARRIS Diatomaceous Earth Powder Duster - 6 Inch Extension Nozzle by Renee Robinson

Does the job! for powder

I use diatomaceous earth [DE] for pest control and as the product is comparable to talc it is useful to have an applicator instead of a fine mesh screen which cannot direct DE into small crevices. The instructions say to use it with the yellow part down. I tried and there was a river, not a train. For DE, the goal is to disperse very fine dust of the product onto the target surface - the kind of dust that can appear on a bookshelf in about a week. Thus, the insect will pass through and the product will "stick" to it. If sprayed in clumps, the insect will likely walk around it [that was my observation]. So I flipped it over, yellow end up, and gave it short shots that were more of a pull than a squirt. I think it has to do with how hard you press the applicator. When used upside down, a hard squeeze still results in more flow, while a quick, softer squeeze results in swaths of product. I suppose the same thing would happen head down as well, but if you think about it, the head down air is being pushed through the top of the DE [like blowing flour out of your hands]. Shake it regularly and tap the surface when clogged.
