Nice but doesn't work properly

I'll start by saying it's absolutely beautiful BUT there are no instructions for the remote control. I installed it and my electrician double checked since we couldn't get the fan to keep the light out. I emailed the retailer and was told to turn the light off with the wall switch. It didn't work, and even if it did, it would be stupid, because what doesn't the remote control work for? I explained that I have a Hunter remote controlled ceiling fan with fewer buttons that works great, but I find it ugly. Guess I'm stuck on ugly as I need a fan with no lights!
