Review on Exo Terra Natural Glass Terrarium by Alesha Adams

I heard that this is the most popular terrarium for keeping Crested Geckos, so I was the first Crested Gecko owner to buy it and I absolutely love it! Here are some important aspects of this product: 1. Waterproof floor - this was important to me because crested geckos need a humid environment and I think I will be using a double floor/drainage layer in the mine. After a week of watering the plants every day and spraying the entire reservoir, there are no leaks.2. Humidity - keeps the humidity well even with an umbrella ceiling. The humidity in my tank is currently 70% even though I sprayed it 4 hours ago. Now I spray the whole aquarium 1-2 times a day. If I cover half of the quilt with plastic wrap or bubble wrap, it probably retains moisture even better, but I can't really complain now, so why change? 3. Escape protection - believe me, the critters can't get out. Even small insects such as crickets or cockroaches cannot escape.4. The light but strong blanket is some sort of metal or aluminum screen and my gecko is constantly hanging upside down from it, but it hasn't broken. I even used fishing line to hang the coconut skin (on the quilt's center pole for support) and it's holding up great. It is also fully detachable and fastens with slide locks.5. Glass. To keep the glass clean and free of limescale/mineral deposits, I only use distilled or filtered water for tank cleaning and washing. This stuff is cheap and I buy gallons of it for 39 cents at my local grocery store. Nice and big - big enough that even with a drainage layer and Eco Earth on top, my gecko has enough room to climb in the aquarium.7. Front-opening glass doors - Crested geckos (and I'm sure other species of geckos do as well) are easily startled, especially if you reach out to grab them from above. Access from the front is not only a lifesaver when handling the gecko, but also when setting up/planting/maintaining it in the aquarium! Both doors don't even have to be open at the same time. You can leave one closed and one open.8. Raised Floor - If you need to heat the tank for any reason, you can place a heating mat under the raised floor tank. However, I didn't have to do that with my crested gecko. This winter I'll probably consider getting a pole/bracket to hang a heat dissipating lightbulb over the tank. 9. Background - To be honest, I expected more from this background when I saw photos of this tank on the internet. It looks like it could be made out of plastic or some other more durable material, but it's just foam. I'm not sure if it has sealant on it or not, but it seems to soak up water that fogs up on it. It's still nice, even in person, but just not the material I was expecting. My gecko seems to stick to it well with the right humidity level, but if the tank dries out the gecko will likely have trouble sticking to it. I'll probably get everything out of the tank to build my own backdrop next year.10. Tank weight - don't let its size confuse you (small-tall); This tank is quite strong and it is not easy for one person to carry it alone, especially up the stairs. Don't expect to have to move this tank around much once you have it. Find a place to store it, set it up and try to move it as little as possible. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I also didn't think it would be that heavy without the filler. I don't want to know how heavy it is now that it's installed and planted, but at least it's not as heavy as an aquarium of the same size with about 10 pounds per gallon of water! a more perfect terrarium for my crested gecko. My complaints are generally very minor. Customize it as you like and have fun creating a paradise for your pet. This tank is durable, versatile and has become a wonderful decoration for my home :)
