Sennheiser has finally released the premium version 7.1, and it's pretty good. The main selling point here is that Sennheiser developed simulated 7.1 surround sound (with many features) to compete with Dolby. Having used both types of Sennheiser I can say that they are both better and most likely not worth the price. Many low-cost games run better without 7.1 enabled (Fortnite), while some games provide better location data with 7.1 enabled (Overwatch) and this gives you the ability to toggle it on and off fairly quickly. If you turn off 7.1 surround sound, you'll still get surround sound from games, so it really comes down to playing with the settings in each game. The big advantage is the ability to adjust the reverb for indoor or outdoor games to improve positioning accuracy. For example, in Overwatch this is much easier to see and the enemy is 30 degrees to your right and above you when this feature is enabled.
