I've been using BMD Analog Video - Audio to SDI (Serial Digital) for years to make old analog gear compatible with new digital gear. Most of the time they work out of the box and I suggest if you're not a pro and can't assemble your own cables you buy good quality ready made analog video cables, analog audio cables and a professional grade SDI cable for your actual encoder. I also suggest that you use component video (RY-BY-Y or RGB) whenever possible, which is much cleaner than direct composite video. This should work with any American composite or component source. Note! It won't make a bad video better. If the original has creases, drops, snow or bad paint, it can't fix them.
