I've used it 2 or 3 times with no problems but it's not like it's a useless piece of plastic. Whether USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0, it was just slow. I always eject my USB devices correctly and safely. It still recognizes the device when I plug it in, it just doesn't identify itself properly no matter how many computers I try it on. The bad thing is I bought it to go with my camera bag so I didn't have any memory cards to read on the trip and there was no way to copy anything, luckily I have an extra 32GB card with me so I can it can not run out of space. Spend a little more money and buy a real card reader. In the end I settled on the Transcend reader plus USB 3.0
