You get what you pay for

I didn't have high hopes for these rivets and overall they worked. However, there are a few things that need to be addressed. Since the entire rivet is made entirely of aluminum (even the mandrel), this creates several problems. Generally, when setting a rivet, the mandrel has an unfortunate tendency to break off in the middle rather than at the head where it should. Also, due to aluminum's relatively low tensile strength, the mandrel is easily removed, making further rivet setting virtually impossible. Both problems could be solved if the company simply decided to use stainless steel instead of aluminum for the mandrel. Although the box that these rivets come in is pretty good and the rivets can still be used, the cheap quality of these rivets cannot be ignored. You get what you pay for and if those rivets fail (I don't think they're installed, they seem strong enough) I won't be using them again. Instead, I spend the extra $15 on a box of stainless steel rivets, which is what I should have done in the first place.
