Review on GE WD7X14 Dishwasher Including Eyelet by Michael Reese

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It just works well for parts and accessories

The dishwasher manufacturer's design makes this part prone to breakage as the single hole/eyelet end attaches to the bolt head and the cable is bent about 90 degrees where it runs along the plastic/ Nylon pulley runs . This reel doesn't have a cable groove and I'm surprised it has lasted all these years. To start, I need to remove a few screws holding the two bottom cover panels - two screws on each end in my application. Then you have access to the defective cable. Both cables are unlikely to break at the same time, as one of them will break, causing the springs to loosen and making the door heavy. The 2 springs that carry most of the weight of the door are attached to the other end which has 2 holes. Two cables are required and both should probably be replaced at the same time. Once these springs are attached to the cables, the ends of the eyelets can be snapped onto the screw heads. The first is easy to attach, but should have some tension so it doesn't slip off the reel when attaching the other end. The springs are best tensioned with a tool, e.g. B. a pair of pliers, and with leather work gloves, so as not to injure your hands if you slip off. This is the most difficult part of this procedure. more than upside down to replace the screws when reinstalling the two bottom panels of the cover. This is the part that breaks about every 5 years on my dishwasher model. At 29, the dishwasher can be replaced the next time the cable breaks. Let's hope that the next model is better constructed and doesn't have to be replaced constantly.
