So I ordered 4 and used 3 of them. I don't have kids but I've used them to keep my cats from messing with things under the sink and in the food cupboard. They are very easy to install and place on the cabinet - just add once and you're done. However, if you decide to purchase, DO NOT put the latches under the handle - I made a mistake on two of the ones I bought and it was impossible to unlatch the latch while it was under the handle. The glue is fast, the bars stick almost instantly, but due to improper placement they had to be removed. Which brings me to why I downgraded it to 3 stars: It is HARD to remove and not at all as easy as the product claims. On the product and in the instructions it says "All you have to do is pry it off starting at the corner". you can not. The adhesive is very strong and can damage cabinets if you're not careful. I spent ages trying to remove it and it was impossible to get any further at all. What really took the latches off the cabinets was applying Goo Gone (other reviewers said acetone (nail polish remover) would work, but it could easily damage wood or stains so I wouldn't recommend it) and left it within a few minutes Minutes absorb log. After that I tried to tear it off - one just came off with my hands. Others required CAREFUL use of a screwdriver to pry the latch off the case. If it didn't happen right away, I just sprayed more Goo Gone. After that I managed to get it clean. I've seen other people recommend blow drying the glue but I haven't tried it. Others have recommended using thread/thread to cut off the adhesive on the back - tried that too didn't work as it was actually tricky. I have no idea how difficult it will be to remove the glue when the glue has been on the cabinet for several years (I've only had it a few hours) and I probably won't know. End of story - this works great and keeps kids and pets out of the cabinets but my goodness it takes a lot of effort to remove and can damage your cabinets as other reviewers have pointed out. If you are planning to obtain this, be aware that removal will be difficult. We hope the above steps will help someone suffer less.
