Review on Radio Shack Outside Wall Mounts by Joe Jordan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Galvanized steel mounting antenna mast.

Some alternatives are coated with zinc chromate (yellow). They are galvanized (galvanized, matte metallic color). The galvanized coating failed after ten years in a marine environment (within 50 feet of salt water). That's good, but not very good either. These two brackets work together to support a 1" to 1.5" pipe/mast. A bracket has two legs (two bolts are attached to the wall). Another mount has three legs (three bolts are attached to the wall). The third leg bears the weight while the other legs endure the side forces of the wind. I used them to support a ten foot pole. I live in an area with high winds, so my mast is a 1" NPS (1.375" diameter) tube. I placed the supports four feet apart vertically, giving me six feet of free mast height. In this configuration, it withstood 70 mph winds while supporting an eight-foot Yagi antenna and a second UHF antenna.
