Review on ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Efficient Monochrome Laser Printer: Lexmark MB2236adw with Wireless Networking & Duplex Printing by Mike Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Uncomfortable and bad first impression, but cheap and functional.

PRO: This printer offers excellent value for money. I bought it for $133. It's great that it can scan, copy, fax and print on both sides. It comes with starter toner. Not very loud, prints quickly. It was also delivered quickly even though I only get standard shipping. CONS: The only way to scan is to run the program on your computer. You need to run the program, select the device, play around with the settings, click "Scan", you may need to select the correct hostname, THEN press the quick access button on the printer, select "Scan to Computer", select the profile, wait until the scanner has scanned the item, then tell it you don't want to scan another page, and then save it to your computer. The program has a "Start Now" option that eliminates all button presses on the printer, except that you are prompted not to scan another page. There is no scan to file option in the printer menu, which makes no sense. I used to use all-in-one printers where you just put what you want to scan on the tablet, press the scan button and save the file to your computer. Also, the flatbed doesn't scan close to the edge, so leave at least 1/4 inch of space to scan the entire object. I suppose if you're scanning a sheet of paper it's not a problem because of the margins, but I use it to scan cards and receipts so you have to leave room around the edge of the tablet. This printer is unnecessarily complicated to run on Linux function. The drivers page says this model is supported (shorturl.at/vyX25) but the OS compatibility page says it is not supported (shorturl.at/oCFJ9). It took me hours to finally get it working. You need to download a special driver for CUPS (shorturl.at/iqz06). There's no reason why the CUPS driver couldn't be included in the printer driver, and there's nothing for Linux on the driver disk that comes with it, just Windows. simultaneously. It prints the first page, feeds the paper back in, and then prints the second page. a little crooked. It's not extreme, but it's definitely noticeable. Make sure you have enough margins for your input or it will be truncated. The screen always flashes red and shows an SMTP error. The only way to stop the error and light is to either configure or disable SMTP. It cannot be disabled from the printer menu. You need to access the printer settings in your web browser and disable it there. Overall I am satisfied with this printer. It was a great price and it's all in one. However, it was a major setup issue and the way it was scanned was stupid. I recommend this printer if you are on a budget and need a lot of features but you can handle the inconvenience.
