I've been soldering for many years and was still a clumsy beginner when I bought this product. I found a great video that taught me how to store my tips properly and WOW! It's amazing how such a small thing can change the whole game. I'll give you the gist. 250Β°C is the tinning temperature. Once the solder (no matter what) is on your tip, "gently" poke the tip into the cleaning pad, twist your wrist, and pull out. You will see that the tip shines with a smooth layer of solder. That's all. Ideal can. When you solder, do that "push and twist" motion FREQUENTLY. Do not load the tip with solder and do not leave it for more than 5-7 seconds. in the best case. It burns off the rosin and quickly begins to oxidize (corrodes your tip) if more than a few seconds of "poking and twisting" pass. Just keep doing this action and you will be surprised how long the tip can last. !Oh yes, I'm still a beginner, but I've learned a lot, thanks.
