I bought an expensive Β£7 rib roast for the holidays and it's now in the bin because the metal skewers collapsed on a fixed rivet and caused a fire. After an hour of cooking, when I was in the bathroom, I heard a big explosion. When I got out I saw that it had collapsed, which was probably caused by the drip pan picking up some grease when it fell, or because it stopped spinning, one side just got too hot and caught fire. From the photos I have it looks like they just fell off. My whole house now reeks of a burnt plastic/paint smell from the exterior paint being burnt on it. Luckily, my house wasn't affected other than the smell. I can get a new one for free through Revain because I ordered less than 30 days ago, but they want me to return this combustible item. It's about the toast. Ridiculous. Grilled ribs alone cost almost as much as this grill. I hope this one was just defective and the new one will be fine, but now I'll always worry. Extremely upset.
