I bought a size small for our 37lb mixed girl. It was always small for backpacks and harnesses, but this one was too small. So I had to go back and buy the same brand/type of petsmart (to get it quicker) medium sized. Fits perfectly! Our dog couldn't swim so this was a great way to make her feel safe while she learned to swim. FYI, for inexperienced dog owners or new dog owners who think all dogs can swim... Not all dogs come naturally to swimming! Our puppy accidentally fell into the pool and couldn't swim, she panicked and tried to climb along the edge of the pool. She was quickly pulled out and fine but we decided to buy a life jacket. Also, she doesn't use her hind legs for swimming, so this life jacket is a must. She is now a confident swimmer who loves chasing her pool sticks.🙂
