I bought this straightener to replace my old one of 8 years and felt like it was doing more damage than good at this point.To compare it to my old Remington:1. They both made my hair straight. I have not used this product to curl my hair as of yet, but it did straighten my hair nicely. I have thick and wavy hair that is about 2 1/2 feet long (approx. 30 in.). I like my hair to be very flat and this did the job. It wasn't quite as flat as my last straightener would get it, ( even at 8 years old) but it was close.2. I like the digital temp on the straightener. My old one had the same display. I had to use a setting of 410° on my last one to get my hair straight and so I automatically did the same for this one. I did not have to adjust the temp during the process of doing my hair which was a good sign. It did not cut my routine time at all. Took about 30 min. (which isn't even bad) to do my whole head, as it did with my other one. And I go through every section of hair twice.3. I am not a huge fan of the curve. It makes it a little difficult for me because now you are forced to use it one way. My old on was straight and it didn't matter which way I was holding it to get the job done.4. The outside does get really hot. So I imagine with curling it might be a little uncomfortable since it would require more handling. To straighten my hair it was no big deal. Compared to my old one, the outside is waaayyy hotter. Maybe this is to assist in curling, but it was too hard to touch for more than a few seconds.5. Still haven't figured out if this straightener locks shut so that it isn't taking up space on my sink or when I put it away. I have tried different ways to close it but it won't stay closed. Not a huge deal, but just a little disappointing. My old one made it super simple to lock it closed and open it and had a little lock picture to assist in the process. Lol.Overall, I like it and it gets the job done. Haven't run into any other hiccups.
