Review on πŸ”§ Plumb Shop Div Brasscraft 322-115 Plastic Garbage Disposal Strainer: Quality and Durability Combined by Chris Scalia

Much better than the Fox Run screen but with one downside

I bought this screen to replace the Fox Run Garbage Disposer Screen (Fox Run Garbage Disposer Screen, Plastic) which I have four Bought months earlier and it broke. This 3 1/8 inch white screen is the best I can measure and gives it the perfect clearance in my insinkerator chute. I like this sieve much better from the start. First, the plastic is thick all around the perimeter. I'm not worried about it breaking like Fox Run did. Second, the central gripper protrusion sticks out on both sides, so there's no face up. The Fox Run umbrella only had a handle on one side. This was a problem as the strainer was easily turned upside down if a large amount of water was poured down the drain and then it was very difficult to remove and turn it over because there was nothing to grab onto pull out the sieve. A disadvantage of this filter is that the central grip tab is not flared at all, but is straight like a pin. This sometimes makes it difficult to pull out, especially if a slippery substance is spilled down the drain. From my understanding, tongue flaring is one of the most important ways to improve this product. The holes are smaller than the Fox Run strainer, but still allow water to drain well enough, even if food remains on top. The hole size is another advantage over the Fox Run. The Fox Run strainer allowed the plastic straws from my kids' baby cups to fall through the large square holes in the strainer. Also the thicker plastic and smaller holes SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sound is blocking my slide - it's amazing how quiet it sounds with this screen. Overall this is a much better product than the Fox Run and I'm pretty sure it will get the job done without breaking. If I were to buy again I would now look for one that also has flared handles. However, I did not find any such reverse filters at Revain. There are several options for purchasing the same filter: LASCO 02-4021 White Plastic Disposal Filter Fits Most LDR 501 5120 Plastic Disposal Filter - Impact Resistant Fits All Designs - White Plastic - Made in the USA Given my own concerns which one Sieve to buy, and my initial bad choice, I thought I should try to help others do better. I actually like white better than black, and it didn't get dirty at all, despite all the dye liquids that ran through it. If you want a basic double sided plastic colander I don't know what you can do better. However, if you find a model with flared handles, write it in the comments so that I and others know about it.
