So far it's working very well for me. I use it primarily for its primary function of finding studs behind drywall, but it's also useful for locating live wires. If you use one of these, turn on all the switches in the area. I want each wire to be live so this device can detect them and minimize the risk of accidentally damaging property when something is hammered into the wall. (See attached video). I'm an electrician and this tool is a lot cheaper than hiring me or a drywall contractor even for a repair. Once you get this tool, you should spend a few minutes understanding how to use it before you poke any holes in it. wall, especially if you've never used a nail finder before. For example, I've noticed some 1-star reviews where the device was calibrated away from a wall and the user was then frustrated that they couldn't use it to detect studs. Of course it doesn't work, it's not properly calibrated. Keep it on the wall while calibrating, otherwise your readings will be useless. This is the first time I've bought a spike finder from this brand. I had a few others and liked them initially but found them to have a shorter lifespan than most of my other instruments. I bought it in August 2020 and intend to update my review when it dies to compare the durability of this tool to other brands. But as long as it works the way it does now, I'm happy.
