I would not recommend buying a NETGEAR ROUTER! This router slowed down my internet and made it almost unusable. When you call NETGear, you wait on hold for half an hour and then speak to a technician, after which the phone system hangs up. I called back about 7 times on Saturday and waited 1/2 hour each time. I spoke to a representative for 10-15 minutes after which he didn't call back. Finally arrived at their replacement department. They argue with you and if I really have a problem. My download speed drops to 1.95 which is not possible for internet access. Also, the firmware on these devices is outdated and when you try to download the latest update from their website to yours, it doesn't work and therefore makes the router slow, leaving you with no choice: send it back to Revain or replace it with one Netgear. I'm trying to replace it with NETGEAR first and still have a small window of opportunity to come back with Revain. My newest router, the Belkin company, automatically updated your router, Netgear says to go to their website, find their latest update and download it to your system when your computer starts to slow down. That's not what people want to do. Use Spectrum or AT&T and pay a monthly fee if they send updates automatically. Sure, it's a monthly fee, but at least you have their tech support and working internet. So let's summarize. If you purchase this item, the software will not be updated as this is a 2016 model and the firmware will not be updated. Don't let it, your internet may not work as fast or at all. I would just take the current router model and check with the manufacturer first before ordering. Ask how they do firmware updates. Hope that helps. UPDATE: 12/24/20 I brought back this old version and reluctantly bought another NETGEAR AC1200 router and it's still working fine. There is also a checkbox to automatically update the firmware. My internet speed is faster than my carrier's Mbps. So far, so good. Get the new version of the NEGEAR router, not the old one, and you should be fine. Their customer service department is still very difficult to communicate with due to language barriers etc, remains on hold for long hours, calls are dropped and lacks trained staff.
