I've been shaving daily for over 40 years now (moderately thick beard and also shave my head) and have been using Mach 3 blades and Gillette 10 handles for probably the last few days -15. When I received a replacement for my travel set (the spring hinge at the top was worn out) the new stock grip felt very light and flimsy. I decided to try this handle from Parker (Black Metal Triple Blade Razor by Parker Safety Razor) with a standard Mach 3 blade and I can NEVER recall a smoother, more comfortable shave in my entire life. The weight and balance seem to apply just the right amount of contact pressure so I don't have to pinch and scrape like I seem to with plastic grips. It shaves faster I guess because I don't reflexively go over the same spots over and over again. I can't believe I just found out about this. Is it worth the money? Well I realized that if it took 5 years it would mean about $7 a year and I'm okay with that. Now that I'm using it, it's worth the price for an amazingly comfortable shave for a week or two. I will be buying another one now to have one for home and one for my travel kit.
