I have had a set of Spyderco ceramic sharpeners for many years, about 20. They work for the most excellent of my pocket knives with serrated and straight blades, although not too blunt. For thin knives, I prefer to use the larger, flat Arkansas stone. I got these diamond sticks mainly for my serrated kitchen knives, some of which went unnoticed for a while. The ceramic rods that came with the kit took too much time and patience to sharpen. My hand ached after the words. I was going to send them to WΓΌsthof for sharpening, but now, during the CV19 crisis, they are closed. So I looked around and found these new diamond bars for me. I read the reviews and was a bit skeptical about the fit. No problem, the uncoated end fits just like the original ceramic sticks. I used them much like ceramic sticks, holding the knife lightly and gently stroking them as if trying to cut off a piece. The grit on them was like 400 grit sandpaper, much more aggressive than the ceramic rods that are best used on semi-sharp knives to sharpen them. No problem with dropping diamonds, it would require gorilla hits. This helped restore the old serrated knives and then I sharpened them with ceramic rods. Now I will use ceramic sticks more often, mostly brown ones. I also use the steel honing rod that comes with the knife set after each use to smooth the edge.
