It works more or less as expected. This thing lets me see my office pretty damn well at night with the lights off, so it works damn well for night vision. Colors are a bit muddy, but I think that's normal on most low-light cameras. All in all, for my application, I'd rather have good night vision than crisp colors during the day. The large side IR LEDs mean it won't fit in a standard Pi camera housing (not that there are many to begin with). The large LEDs on the side are a faint red, probably not as bright as the average LCD status indicator. on your DVD player. I assume they are pretty bright in IR but obviously can't see it. I'm building a monitoring and automation system for chicken coops (opening/closing doors to let them out after leaving in the morning and at dusk, measuring water/food levels, etc.) and that should pretty much be what we want to keep them keep an eye on at all times without going to the chicken coop. I would buy another one if I have another low light webcam project with the Pi again.
