Review on Imus Seal Butyl Joist Tape: Ultimate Waterproofing Solution for Flashing Deck Joists and Beams (1-5/8” x 50’) by Fernando Ramani

We are repairing the soundboard due to an issue these bands are designed to prevent. Several boards and floor joists were rotten and had to be replaced. This tape seems to be an ingenious solution to the problem of dirt and moisture collecting in the gaps between the planks above the joists. The tape came off easily. It was a good idea to cut off pieces of tape before going up the stairs to tape it. It's best not to struggle with the roller when applying the tape, especially if you're four meters up a ladder. The band is only 1/8" wider than a standard 1 1/2" bar. It's only 1/16 inch on each side of the joist, so be careful when centering the tape on the joist. In general, the adhesive tape was quickly bonded with us. I would add that the top of the tape is slippery so the planks slide slightly before being attached. This is good for positioning, but can also be dangerous if you don't carefully walk over the boards before attaching them. This tape is worth investing in. build a deck without it.
