Review on πŸ” NuScan1000U - Handheld USB Contact CCD Barcode Scanner by Adesso by Derek Dolla

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It scans a number of different types, barcode addict barcode display

It scans a number of barcode types. I checked almost all of them. It scans: * EAN-13 (ISBN) * EAN-8 * GS1-128 (EAN-128) * UPC-A (regular UPC) * Code 128 * Code 39 (3 of 9) * Interleaved 2 of 5 Not scanned : * UPC-E (I believe it's a tiny barcode on books that only encodes the price, not the ISBN) * Codabar (used by libraries) * POSTNET (lines of postmarks at the bottom of your letter) * 2D barcodes Contact Scanner, which means the scanner must be in contact with the barcode. But sometimes it works an inch above a well-printed barcode. Also, it's a wired USB scanner, which means you have to bring your laptop to the object you're scanning. It automatically scans barcode text and character input, but you can get rid of character input via the scanned options in the book. Pros: + I was able to plug mine in and start scanning without installing any software (I use a PC) + It automatically scans many different types of barcodes without having to set anything up + Nice long cable, about 4ft + Very easy to use + Lightweight but stable + Satisfactory beep after each successful scan and no beep when not scanning + Even scanned my barcodes that I printed on my inkjet printer and they were smudged Cons: - Very simple, the only parameters you What you can change are the length and pitch of the beep (using the codes in the book).

Pros
  • feels good
Cons
  • unreliable
