Both thermometers worked very well the first time they were used. However, since using the smaller thermometer the second time, it has been MUCH wrong. I found this out when I was boiling milk to make cheese, there was steam coming out of the milk indicating it had reached 185ยฐF or more, but the thermometer only read 130ยฐ. Then I tried frying. The thermometer read 320ยฐF, but the oil was smoking. So far after 3 uses the longer thermometer seems to be showing the truth.
