Worked fine for the most part, 1 of 2 worked

Currently using these RC522 sensors with NodeMCU ECP8266, programming with Arduino IDE. Unit 1 worked well and worked with all cards/fobs provided. The 2nd unit did not read the maps. The power light on the sensor is on, but I can't get any readings. Scoured the internet with tests leading me to believe it was a scam. Would be a good buy if both worked.
