Review on CoolerMaster MasterAir MA612 Stealth ARGB CPU Air Cooler: Enhanced Cooling with 6 Heat Pipes, Nickel Plated Base, Aluminum Black Fins, and Dual SickleFlow Fans for AMD Ryzen/Intel 1200/1151 by Ryan Hampton

I was attracted to the MA620M LED lighting.

but was initially skeptical that this thing could cool a 3950x with 16 cores. Admittedly, I only bought this because I wanted air cooling and Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 and Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black were reserved when I was ready to order. So far temperatures seem very reasonable, 30s with no load, 40-60s with medium load, although I have yet to let them run. Benchmarks to push Ryzen really hard and generate extra heat. Pros: - Works well on AMD 3950x so far (Note: I'm using a full size Phantek Enthoo Pro case with 6 PWM fans, which definitely improves airflow) - Looks great! - The LEDs add visual interest, but the overall effect is still subtle. - Radiator fins are tall leaving enough room for lots of RAM (RAM clearance is an issue with some other air coolers) - Quiet - I haven't heard that before. Cons: - There is too much plastic in the mount - I hope a future version makes the mount as strong as standard (metal) mounts without the plastic! - The mounting bracket fits very loosely on the AMD until the top of the CPU cooler is added. I almost returned the cooler thinking I had a defect especially as the manual doesn't mention a free fit but Cooler Master confirmed a free fit was provided via email so I kept it. I still routed the bracket with plastic washers to tighten the fit before completing the installation. (I removed the star because of the loose plastic bracket.) - Check the depth of the CPU cooler on your case as it is quite high. The Phantek Enthoo Pro fits great as it leaves space between the CPU cooler and the panel glass after installation. ################################################# # ########## This cooler has been running for 6 months with no issues including controlling the temperature during long gaming and rendering sessions. Rating moved to 5 stars.

Pros
  • 6 heatpipes with nickel-plated base: 6 heatpipes and a nickel-plated copper base offer maximum coverage for optimal cooling.
Cons
  • Very expensive
