I have used this on my pet rats. I bought it because it was cheaper. Immediately my roommate noticed how bad the smell was. I can't get any poop out other than just throwing it away. The litter lasted about 2 days for eight rats compared to a month, which is usually enough for half the litter size. It didn't absorb or stick to the feces. It got thrown everywhere when they tried to bury their feces and I had to change the sheets. Maybe it's better for ferrets, but my rats hated it. At least it didn't leave any dust, but that alone wasn't worth the extra money, time, or smell.
