I noticed a difference the first time I used it. I don't use it more than twice a month because I don't know how it whitens my teeth. Doctors have suggested that there aren't enough tests yet that they don't yet know how charcoal whitens teeth. I was advised to use sparingly. I have followed the instructions. I cleaned with charcoal for a minute. It left a mess. After that I had to wash the sink. It was easily rinsed out of the mouth. My teeth weren't discolored black or anything like that. It was straight. It didn't taste like chalk or anything like that. I cleaned and cleaned as usual right after. I drink coffee so there were some stains and the charcoal really lightened those stains. After the first application there was definitely a difference.
