I bought two motion detectors for our basement with a three-position switch. The family leaving the house through the basement often forgets to turn off the light. I installed two lightbulbs in both basement entrances. A lamp that is loose in its socket works well because the lamp and sensor are clearly visible. However, the lightbulb at the top of the stairs doesn't work because it's mounted in a wall bracket that covers the sides of the lightbulb, exposing only the underside. Based on the representation of the principle of operation in the product images, I assumed that the detection occurs at the open bottom of the bulb, since the cone marking the detection area starts on one side of the bottom and ends on the other. However, the light does not work properly, as it is likely that the detection will be on one side, even closer to the base of the lamp, and the bracket will cover the side.
