I bought this vise in addition to a simple workbench I made myself and am very happy with the result. Installation was less difficult than time consuming, in part because I had to modify my bench to accommodate it. Luckily, the design of these vises allows for several different mounting options. Another reason it took so long is that there was little guidance in the instructions. There were no recommendations on which hardware to use and no template for drilling holes to attach the bars. That's why I'm giving it four stars instead of five. Look, it's just a truck. No fastening material. No jaws. This is how it should be though, as the length of the bolts and the width of the jaws vary widely by bank. In my case I used #14 flat head screws for the fasteners and invested in a 2x6 piece of oak to use as sponges. I also used some oak to shape the tips on my grip (1" hardwood pencil). Happy with the result. ALSO... As for the grip. The grip slides back and forth easily. There will be times where you want to be able to slide it all the way just to get it out of the way. Trust me on that. You don't want the grip to be tight. The 1" piece of dowel slides easily. I would do not recommend using a larger diameter vise.
