Review on Ubiquiti NanoBeam ac Gen2: πŸ”§ Unleashing High-Performance airMAX ac Bridge (NBE-5AC-Gen2-US) by Todd Calloway

Works great and integrates easily with my old Nanobeam M5

I have a point-to-point connection between my house and my mother-in-law's house. I use Nanobeam M5 radios for communication. One of them died and had to be replaced. I bought a NanoBeam AC to replace it. I had to update the firmware on the remaining M5s and change a few settings to get the link online, but once that happened it worked great. Installing the downloadable app was successful, but I ended up going back to the web interface as I found it easier to work with (the app doesn't give you all the bells and whistles). The only issues I have with the new NanoBeam AC Gen2 Dish are 1) all the LEDs are blue and 2) the LEDs are on the top of the antenna. If you mount it on a pole or tower, like most people probably do, you won't be able to see the LEDs from the ground. On older Nanobeam M5 dishes, the LEDs were visible from the bottom. The Nanobeam M5's LEDs are also multicolored, ranging from red to green, and can give you an idea of what kind of signal you're getting by just looking at the dish. The new NanoBeam AC dish has blue LEDs, so you have to get close to the dish to see the signal strength. It's uncomfortable, but it doesn't bother me, and it's not enough to deduct a star. Overall this was great value for money and I continue to be impressed with Ubiquiti products.
