I have been burning DVDs to Panasonic DVD-R for many years. One day my Magnavox recorder didn't recognize the discs. I tried different ones to see if maybe the drive was bad but to no avail. I figured my recorder must be bad because I've had it for years. I found one on Craigslist and bought it. It is used but has been used very little. It was exactly the same as my other one but under a different brand from Funai. I put in a Panasonic disc and it wasn't recognized either. Luckily there were instructions included. I've never read the manuals, but I figured now was the time to start. I read the compatible media section and there were some but no Panasonic. Maxell was the recommended brand so I ordered a pack of 100 from Revain. Low, and lo and behold, they worked and I thought the recorder didn't work either. I think Panasonic must have changed something about their drives at some point because they're the only ones I've used in years. So now I have two DVD recorders that work well with Maxell DVD-R. I found out that DVD recorder prices have skyrocketed due to copyright laws. I only paid 200β¬ for my used one. The motto of the story. READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL and use the correct discs.
