Review on DALSTRONG Crixus Gladiator Cleaver Hybrid by Michelle Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Dalstrong, Dal-Dang! That's a great knife!

I don't like giving five stars but I really like this knife. This is my fourth Dalstrong kitchen knife and it does not disappoint. A presentation worthy of a "special occasion" as it comes in its own case with sleeve and built-in box. My kids love the included metal badge and I'm sure I would decorate it if I were a professional chef in uniform. The custom sheath is strong and not just a piece of plastic. The knife's initial appearance is impressive and intimidating to those unfamiliar with knives. For those who appreciate metal, the sight of the knife is drooling as the overall shape of this Crixus is truly unique. It's a cross between pirate and hunter's cutlery, only slightly reinforced. The perfect knife for those who love to cook with a twist and fanfare. The actual use and feel of the knife in your hand is amazing. The knife is large and longer than a normal chef's knife, but the blade feels light in the hand. This is an added benefit for long hours of cooking and the lack of a heavy blade. I have other Dalstrong knives that are much thicker and harder to use after prolonged use. This knife is easy to use and maneuverable to reach and cut through joints and ligaments without having to move the meat part. The handle also feels good in the hand when it is wet from the water and offers a good grip even with greasy oils/blood. A wooden handle has an advantage over plastic in that it looks smooth yet has a slight texture. The cutting profile of the blade is extremely narrow for the size of the blade. This makes it easier to cut thick joints of the roast and sirloin. This blade can cut chicken bones, but I wouldn't recommend it for piercing pork bones larger than 1/2 inch, and definitely not beef bones and cane bones. The edge of the blade is insanely sharp. I have sharpened many knives at home and professionally at work. This is the first knife out of the box that not only allowed me to easily cut through a piece of paper, but also to carefully snip thin strips of paper with a slight flick of my wrist while holding it. Knife. Exciting sharpness! The knife is not dishwasher safe. If you put your sharp kitchen knives in the dishwasher, you don't have to buy this knife. All you have to do is snag one of those brightly colored knives in those plastic bags hanging in the Walmart aisle. The blade is easy to clean with hot soapy water. Dry it immediately as a high carbon blade will stain and/or dull overnight. My girlfriend washed one of my Dalstrong knives (absolutely perfect, as expected, but got sidetracked and air dried, our hard water caused water stains). Stains can be easily removed with a polishing cloth and/or light wiping with a blue sponge. All high-quality, high-carbon knives suffer the same fate when submerged in water for long periods of time. I wholeheartedly recommend these knives to professionals and anyone who wants an affordable, quality knife.
