Review on Staedtler Lumograph Graphite Drawing Pencils 100G6 - Set of 6 Degrees in a Charming Storage Tin: Perfect for Sketching and More! by Kelly Caballes

Mechanical pencil lover until I tried this one.

For many years I drew primarily with mechanical pencils, disliking the lack of a permanently sharp point and hating the scratchy feel of hard wooden graphite pencils. I never thought you would benefit more from a quality wooden pencil than a cheaper pencil. It's just wood and graphite, right? Not really. These pencils are the best. The harder "H" through "H4" are hard to the touch but don't have those pesky, rough patches of clay that suddenly scratch the paper. I've also found that with a small quality pencil sharpener like the Alvin Brass Bullet Sharpener it only takes a few twists of the pencil to get a sharp point. I was used to those low quality plastic pencil sharpeners that seemed to split wood or blister my fingers from twisting so much. As a result I would use an electric pencil sharpener which eats way too many of your expensive pencils. I recommend using a small quality hand sharpener and your pencils will last much longer. In general, quality pencils are a bit more expensive, but it's worth it, and be sure to buy a quality manual pencil sharpener.
