Great as a semi-permanent recycling bin

I've been using these 13 gallon "kitchen" recycling bins since 2014 and am very happy with them. I live in PNW where there is a lot of rain, winter wind and some snow most years. Needless to say, I don't like running to the garbage shed on the other side of the house every day, day or night; So I keep one of these in my laundry/pantry off the kitchen and just toss the cleaned recyclables in when I leave. It holds enough (there's just the two of us) that we only have to empty it once a week for "garbage night". I don't throw it out once a week but reuse it, put newspaper on the floor to catch water droplets from washed food containers and then dump it out with the trash at night and then put it back. Each Fling popup lasts 2-1/2 to 3 years for me. They're pretty durable considering they're made for parties, gatherings, etc. The outer plastic has never cracked and the inner ones are holding up very well. Where they end up failing is the cardboard ring at the top, but if you're careful enough when dumping you can easily use 2 to 2-1/2 years off a single fling. 3 with some staples and tape reinforcing the cardboard ring (hey, I didn't have a spare handy lol!). in a single specimen or in packs of two or more, and they fit easily in a hard-to-reach, tight space (my laundry room).

Pros
  • Crossing my fingers
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
