A Canon 600D is a reliable and high-quality camera. This is the equipment you'll need to start taking professional-quality photographs. It's fun and easy to learn how to shoot with him. I refuse to give it up, even as we upgrade our infrastructure and replace our vehicles. Everyone yells at the whale lens, but to no avail. It's not terrible, and it's not worse because it doesn't blur the background like fixes do. At least my gear is effective; I don't have any issues with focus or washout, and the stabilizer is rock solid. Fifty kopecks can't say that; it blurs nicely, but the focus is iffy and it might not even work. Aperture is a touchy subject; on a dark whale (thanks to the stabilizer), a 1/10 aperture allows for a relatively sharp shot inside, while a maximum of fifty kopecks at 1/60 guarantees lubrication (on a crop, 50 mm turn into 80). The picture from lauded fixes is often unsatisfactory because to issues like focus misses in low light.
- Many things have been stated, and all of them are correct, concerning virtues. In particular, the high quality of the images (given sufficient shooting parameters), the pleasing hues, and the pleasant, if less crisp than RAW camera JPG. While 18 megapixels seems like a lot, when photographing in a controlled environment (such as a studio) or with a tripod, the extra clarity is well than worth it. Another crucial feature is that, while keeping one's eye on the viewfinder, one's right hand may adjust all the relevant shooting settings (my new camera, of a higher class, needs to use the left hand to change iso). Excellent whale lens (maybe a good copy).
- - Significant image degradation occurs when the iso value is increased to or beyond 4000. Low-frequency noise causes color floatiness and a decline in DD. As nobody is expecting miracles from the harvest, any outcome beyond ISO 3200 seems to me to be satisfactory. Negatives (most people won't need it, which is a bummer for photo fetishists) The 600d does not have good stretch. With an iso of 100, you can avoid extremes of light or dark by one stop. Color noise cannot be totally suppressed, and the noise pattern during extraction is unattractive, consisting of vertical stripes (banding). The color spreads out in broad swaths.
