Review on MICHELIN X-Ice North 4 205/55 R16 94T winter by Anastazja Kwiatkowsk ᠌

A worthless product, definitely not worth your money!

I want to warn you right away that I will not sing deferambs to these tires, as many do here, I am a real buyer and I am in a slight shock from this purchase! And so about everything in order! Bought MICHELIN X-Ice North 4 215/65 R16 tires at the end of the season on March 6, 2022! Tire manufacturing date 1 week 2022! Geographically located in the city of Astana! First impressions were very positive. Smooth running appeared, light bumps and joints on asphalt and bridges, the tire swallows and does not give into the suspension. Acceleration and braking are also very confident. ABS has become less effective. But that's about it. As I already wrote in the shortcomings, the problem of spikes is very significant for these tires! Initially, I always bought studded tires, because in Astana you can’t do without them, but here it turns out that with such a crazy degradation of studs, in a season I will ride a simple Velcro with rusty steel shells :)! I am very impressed with MICHELIN products, all my friends also advised me, and they never spoke negatively about the tires of this company. After watching and reading reviews, I boldly purchased a set of 5 tires along with a spare tire, as a reserve for the future, with confidence in the future :)! But the harsh reality brought me down from heaven to earth! Considering that the tire seller company gave me only 1 year warranty for these tires, I will really hope that they will be replaced under warranty if the story with spikes continues like this. Time will show! Take care of yourself and your loved ones!

Pros
  • 1. Price; 2. The composition of the rubber compound; 3. Comfortable driving; 4. Good road grip; 5. Confident braking.
Cons
  • 1. Quality and strength of spike cores! It's just awful and the biggest MINUS! 2. The noise from the rubber is still present, no matter how they praised it! As for the noise reproduced by these tires, as many write, nothing is heard, quieter than summer tires, I will say this: either these people have a hearing problem, or very loud music in the car. Tires are heard and very well, of course, the sound is not like that of a helicopter taking off, but the fact that the studded rubber is clearly audible, and not like "cat's claws", but like the sound of an ordinary spike! If someone changes their seat from Velcro, they will be shocked . And now the most important thing! As a result, I drove on this rubber for a little less than 3 weeks, on March 6 I put on my shoes, and on March 25 I already took it off. With a "pensioner" driving style of 40-60 km / h, only in the city, the mileage was only a little over 300 km. After reading reviews about the bummer of spikes in the X-Ice North 3 generation, I thought that this would bypass the new generation, but alas! And when I saw what happened to the spikes, I was just disappointed. All studs are 100% in place, the stud shell is a bit rusty but that's ok! And now the whole point is that about 20% of the spikes on each tire began not to completely break off, but simply crumble, i. E. on many there were chips, and very noticeable. In order not to be unfounded, I will attach a photo of the spikes. When my wife saw the condition of the thorns, she said that this condition was in 2 weeks? And what will be the season? It is possible that I came across a defective batch of spikes, but I have never seen anything like this even on Cordiants, where the spikes simply wore out evenly or riveted in the form of a nail head, but never chipped or broke!
