Big. If you need a smart air purifier

Filtrete (a 3M company) is a leading manufacturer of household air filters. Their HVAC filters can be found at every major retail and hardware store in the US. Given the recent popularity of air purifiers and their good reputation for air filters, it makes sense for them to enter the air purifier market. I have several air purifiers from different manufacturers. produced. In fact, I now have one in every room in my house. In my experience there is not much difference in features and performance between different brands in a similar price range. The most important thing that differentiates them is the design and the "total cost of ownership", i.e. the cost of replacing the filter. The filter replacement cost for this device is reasonable in comparison ($40) and the filters are said to be rated for 6 mouths. It's also worth noting that Filtrete claims to have "developed a smarter way to track filter life based on device usage, airflow and air quality". Of the air purifiers I own, this is one of the best. It has all the features you'd expect for the price (touch controls, air quality sensor, auto mode, timer, extras) and it's a WiFi-enabled smart device. It looks beautiful regardless of tech and has a powerful fan that circulates quite a bit of air. It's not the quietest air purifier I own, but it's quiet enough on the lowest settings. Personally, I have mixed feelings about owning a "smart" air purifier. On the one hand, I love all things smart home and have dozens of smart home devices (lights, cameras, home security, speakers, etc.). Personally, however, I don't want to think about my air purifier other than changing the filter. In my opinion, the best home air purifiers require nothing more than simply turning them on and letting them run quietly in the background. I don't know if it's worth overpaying for "smart" tech in this kind of tech. However, Filtrete has done a good job with the companion app. It offers some compelling arguments, such as: B. notifying you when a filter needs to be replaced and providing direct links to replacement filters for your particular air purifier. filter used and degree of coverage (310 square feet). While it's small, it's big and I would have preferred it to have a cylindrical air filter given the form factor. Cylindrical filters have a large surface area and are generally designed for large rooms. They suck in 360 degrees of air and seem a bit quieter (in my experience). Overall I would say this is a very good air purifier from a well known brand and if you are looking for a 'smart' air purifier this is a good choice. However, if smart technology isn't your thing, this probably isn't the best option.
