Review on 🔥 MSI X470 GAMING PLUS Max Motherboard for AMD Ryzen 2ND and 3rd Gen Processors with DDR4, DVI, HDMI, Onboard Graphics, and Crossfire Support - Ideal for Gaming Performance by Jnis Bisters ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Performs its functions, nothing unusual.

Everyone has already praised the mother, I will not repeat myself, but I will bring a fly in the ointment. I don’t know if the problem is in the mother or AMD, but I absolutely don’t understand why there are Precision Boost 2, PPT, TDC, EDC settings, etc., if it’s just that 1.44-1.48V is peeling in the drain by default, when it's obviously too much. Why is it funny: if you simply set 1.33V manually - the temperature drops, auto-acceleration increases and sags less in frequencies (-5 C °, + 15% Cinebench points). Question: why does such a game come out of the box and what is the point of PBO? If you turn on Game Boost, the story is even crazier: the voltage is infernal, the frequency is simply fixed at 3.7-3.8 Ghz, therefore, the performance is even less. And I remind you that simply by lowering the voltage of the frequency processor is much higher and keeps 4100-4250. It's a mystery to me how it all works. If you set a low, but working voltage, the BIOS will not adapt to it, will not change the frequencies, and simply refuse to start. But if you manually set the frequency - everything is ok. But what if I want the percentage to be cold and not warm my room while I'm not doing anything and that would work at 100% when I need to render? The only thing that influences and creates a similar effect is the power plan - saving energy. But it does not change the voltage when it is set manually, or: automatically, but from 0.8V to as much as 1.5V, which would be enough to overclock, probably up to 4.4 Ghz. I also can't help but mention the software. MSI DragonCenter. Gaming Mode is the same as Game Boost - just a pointless setting. MSI Mystic Light - just doesn't work. In the new version of the program, 90% of the functionality simply does not work. I connected AeroCool Astro 12 via DeepCool GamerStorm RGB Сonvertor - you can’t choose a color, it just flickers strangely in different modes. Only 3 flowers of the processor temperature work. Only to whom in MSI does the color range from cold to hot seem logical: green - BLUE - red? And it doesn't change. The 2022 character limit has been reached. Eh MSI, I trusted you.

Pros
  • Interface set, location. Bios reset button. Appearance.
Cons
  • Soft. Poor, superficial manual. The impossibility of flexible settings for the logic of the processor, it is impossible to specify ranges / frequency dependences / voltage. Not obvious corrections in BIOS like Mode 1, 2, 3. and no description anywhere. Lack of 5V RGB connectors (but two 12V RGB per 4 meters of tape).
