Some reviewers have stated that this is a newer product and does not work with the old Moen value. You are correct that this is a newer version and works better than the old version. It comes with a hard plastic piece that replaces the brass center piece on older models. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw in the center of the original brass piece. At the same time, make sure everything is aligned. Then replace the brass part with a new plastic part using the new screw that is also included. Then reattach the outer chrome cover. If you have hard water, the new plastic part will not hold the mineral deposits that will ruin the brass part being replaced.
