Review on ๐ŸŽฎ MSI B360 Gaming Plus: Superior Performance Gaming Motherboard with Intel Coffee Lake CPU and Onboard Graphics by Leon Yulharmanto

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great features in an affordable package

Years ago I gave up on mastering overclocking. Almost all components are currently capable of overclocking 10-20% from the factory if they are cool enough to keep it running. That was the main reason I stopped buying overclockable motherboards and processors. With good cooling you get 10-20% anyway and don't have to spend extra money for overclockable components. This is a feature rich board for the price. I had a very specific set of ports/features that I wanted and this board had them all. Fits easily in my medium tower case. Lots of space and USB sockets for several days. It also has some features you don't usually get 100% on a board like TPM. I don't need this since I'm using Linux (oh yeah it only says Windows 10 and that's a lie. You can install Linux if it's from a CD > with a SATA connection). USB drives will be disabled during installation until the drivers are installed. If you are not running win10, there is an option to enable some pre-installed drivers that only work during win10 installation. But if you use the CD, you get Linux just fine. The m.2 slot works great with the installed Samsung 970 Evo. Lightning fast as it supports NVMe in the slot. (however, with the m.2 installed, the SATA 1 connector is disabled), which is fine since most users don't use all the SATA connectors on the board at all. I have multiple hard drives but that doesn't matter as I have an expansion card for one of my PCIe lanes that gives me more SATA ports. The BIOS menu is one of the best I've ever used. Fast and easy navigation and just looks good. I have no complaints about that. Having researched beforehand, I knew what to expect. I wasn't really surprised by this board. For a non-overclocked board with some great features at this price point, it's hard to beat. Definitely recommend.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and longevity from testers
Cons
  • This makes me angry
