I connected this to a Sonoff smart switch to control my gas fireplace. Works perfectly. I glued the relay to the Sonoff. Then I connected the coil to the Sonoff. I soldered them to the relay coil and sealed them with heat shrink tubing. I made some wires with connectors on them to connect the normally open contacts to the throttle solenoid wires. This itself generates electricity from the test lamp. I placed an extra deep "old" box next to the existing switch and connected 120V to the Sonoff. It's tight, but it fits. Place the blank plate on the old work box. Works like clockwork. Now I can use Alexa to turn the fireplace on and off. I left the existing switch as the main switch so I can turn it off when on vacation. I can always turn off the gas at the valve right in the block, so it's not that big of a problem. I also installed a manual override switch which I drilled right into the blank panel to turn the fireplace on in the event of a power outage (storm/falling trees etc) and I need heat.
