The pump included in this kit works very well and produces a high vacuum. Bags, on the other hand, are questionable. They'll let you draw a vacuum, but won't last more than a few weeks, if at all. I don't know if it's a zipper or a vacuum valve, but they lose the vacuum within a few days. I solved the long term storage problem by using shrink wrap to permanently seal the top. No, you cannot reuse the pouch, but it will remain sealed.
