Review on 9145 Abrasive Disc Holder Internal by Roy Whetstone

3M product. Unnecessary hassle to buy

First let me say that I find this disc "holder" or support pad to be a quality product. He does his job and pretty well at it. It holds 3M velcro discs securely and provides a decent soft surface for the sanding disc. I bought this backing pad to use with several different 3M drives and have found it to work very well with all of them. So what's the problem? Here it is. The "specifications" attached to this product "warn" you that this item is intended for "professional" use only. In addition, you must provide a "disclaimer" stating that you are in fact a "professional" or "commercial user" of this product. What is there? This is only to make a liar out of a person who needs one of them and does not work in the appropriate field of activity. In my situation, I can realistically claim to be a professional user. But many potential customers probably can't. If I weren't in the right place in this area, I would feel uncomfortable about the required approval and could put me off a purchase. The second relates to the composition of that carrier or "holder". While it easily sticks to velcro discs, the backing itself isn't as "soft" as I think it should be. This is a stretchy material but remains fairly aggressive during use. If you are looking for a backer with some "rebound", this mat may be too hard for comfortable use. Definitely I love this product. I'm really. And if the two mentioned issues don't bother you, then it probably deserves five (5) stars. In my case, I'm giving four (4) stars because I feel 3M is falling short with their merchandising and could potentially cause undue stress.
