By forcibly inserting it, it pulled the extension cable's pins on the 2-pin connector out of its plastic case, and upon further inspection, the connectors on my PSU's GPU cable were nearly destroyed as it deformed the socket somewhat. I stopped here. Thankfully, the warped pins still work with my new GPU, but I'm happy to sacrifice aesthetics for functionality. I had no intention of trying them on a 24 pin power connector as I've heard horror stories of this happening and people's motherboards actually being shorted out.
