And Thunderbolt to boot! This is the fourth socket I've tried with the M1 MBP. Everyone else woke up with their laptop disconnected from the monitor most of the time. Reconnecting the HDMI cable didn't help either. Changing the cable didn't help. The system configuration tool to detect displays did nothing. The only two ways to reconnect it was to reboot or eject all my external drives and reconnect the hub itself. I USE THIS HUB FOR TWO DAYS WITH MULTIPLE COMPUTER SLEEP PERIODS AND IT CONNECTS TO MONITOR EVERY TIME. In addition, the Thunderbolt passthrough seems to work transparently and with no loss of speed. The only minor annoyance for me is that it needs more ports than suggested. I have two external drive enclosures and a wired keyboard, not to mention connecting my phone and iPad for regular backups or updates. Luckily I have a 7 port USB 3 hub and daisy chain devices across it and the Purgo hub works great, again without slowing down the data transfer rate to the drive. I've attached screenshots of Black Magic Disk Speed tests with and without a Purgo hub for an external Thunderbolt drive. Also compare other external drives just using Purgo or daisy chaining through it and another USB 3 hub. No difference other than what you would expect from one test to the next. If the Thunderbolt drive is plugged into one of the USB-C ports and charging works through the other, although another USB-C port can be useful at times. Two C&A ports, I think a score of 4.9 is the most accurate. The flawless performance of the external monitor and the hassle-free use of a second daisy-chain hub make my review as close to perfect as it can get without absolute perfection. To be perfectly honest, I have to tell you that Purgo comes with a gift offer for those who leave reviews. Seriously, I was already thinking about this before I found that piece of paper in the box last night. It seems to be the last step to make my home office efficient and hassle-free. Update after using it for most of the week: It still works great but when I swapped the cables I unplugged the HDMI cable from the adapter. When I did this, the external Thunderbolt drive disconnected and macOS scolded me for not ejecting it. It was reassembled in a second or less. At first I thought I knocked the adapter out of the computer, so I reconnected the HDMI and repeated this several times. It was only the Thunderbolt drive and not the USB sticks every time. Disconnecting the HDMI cable from the monitor had no effect on the TB drive, only the end attached to the adapter came loose. Not something that happens every day, but it's a bit strange.
