not very hard, falls into wax

That's not very good. The wicks are not very thick and rigid, some are poorly textured making them easy to fall and move in the hot wax (after pouring while curing and during and after firing). I usually have to dig up the wick to light the candle. This will definitely happen if you don't trim the wick. Some have an oilier smell.
